Exams are stressful, but with the right preparation, you can confidently and happily walk into that exam room. While studies are imperative, how you prepare those days before the exam gives you a complete difference. Following are five essential tips that will help you get ready before the actual day of the exam.

1. Make a Study Schedule and Follow It

Generally speaking, studying at the last minute is not very effective and usually causes undue stress. Instead, develop a study plan that encompasses all topics you will need to review. Break your studying into manageable chunks, and devote more time to those subjects that prove to be the most challenging. Use active recall, practice tests, and summarization techniques while studying.

2. Sleep Properly

Sleep aids in memory consolidation and cognitive functions. Avoid studying late at night on the eve of the examination because it will weaken your retention capability and affect your performance. Have at least 7–9 hours of sleep so you are fresh and alert when you wake up.

3. Prepare Your Exam Essentials in Advance

Prepare everything in the evening before the exam: pens, pencils, eraser, calculator (if allowed), ID, and any papers that may be needed. Preparation of your bag beforehand will avoid last-minute complications and ensure you do not forget anything important.

4. Healthy Meal

Eat a healthy meal.

Your brain needs fuel to function optimally. On the day of the exam, eat a balanced meal rich in protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates. Avoid excessive caffeine or sugary snacks that could lead to energy crashes. Staying hydrated is equally important, so drink plenty of water.

5. Stay Calm and Focused

Stress management plays an equally important role in studying. Try to be in a state of mindfulness, or deep breathing, or light physical exercise to keep yourself calm. Reach the examination venue before time to avoid last-minute stress, and take a few minutes to breathe before your test starts.

Final Words

But studying for the exam is not only about studying-it's about laying down perfect conditions for success. Here are five tips to follow in order to decrease anxiety, increase concentration, and perform at the best of your ability. Good luck with your exams!
